Summer of 2010 Post

Dear Friends and Family,

We pray this note finds you well. We are writing to update you on our lives and to thank you for being so dear to us. This year has been a whirlwind for us: meeting each other's families, engagement, our wedding and multiple family happenings all while attending Covenant Seminary and working with the college students we love! As we have been serving and mentoring college students, we have felt very confirmed in our pursuits of our Masters of Divinity and Counseling degrees. We are very grateful to Covenant for equipping us so well, and giving us a loving community and learning environment. Our tentative graduation date is May 2012, and, Lord willing, the conclusion of our degrees will be the launching pad of our lifetime of serving others.

We have been serving the St. Louis universities of Lindenwood and Maryville since 2007. This coming Fall, our university families are blending and we will be centralizing our ministry efforts to Lindenwood University. This summer, we are in regular contact with 30 students each week. Every Wednesday night we eat a meal together and discuss leadership at our 2 Timothy Bible study. On Monday nights, Sarah spends time with 20 girls helping them shape their worldview while Lee met regularly one-on-one with a student who is growing in his personal identity and Lee encouraged him to pursue his passions. In college it is easy to feel lost, so we help them navigate the journey while keeping them from detouring at the “typical” college pit-stops. Now we are several weeks into our Fall semester and we are already seeing growth! We consider ourselves privileged to be so deeply involved with all our students and we pray God continues to use us to shape them into mature adults who use their gifts to serve others. And while this takes a great deal of time each week, it is a joy for us to do!

However this service does not come without a cost to us, and this, friends, is where we need your help. First and foremost, we need your prayers that God would guide us in our ministry. Secondly, we need your financial support. Because the Kirk of the Hills Church is a non-profit organization with a limited budget, they are only able to pay one person on our team. We have attempted to be self-sufficient by taking up to four part-time jobs apiece, which affects our academic and ministerial pursuits. With life expenses and tuition ever-increasing for us full-time students, we are asking that you consider partnering with us in our work with Reformed Campus Fellowship. Your generous, tax-deductible donations will enable us to work more with our students while lessening the worry of how we will make our ends meet. By granting us the ability to fundraise for our ministry, we can focus our attention on where our passions lie, which will not only prepare us for our future but will also benefit the college students we desire to reach.

We pray that you will help us reach out to the college students at Lindenwood University. Our goal is to raise $1500/month for the next two years. This will take care the necessities of our life including insurances, tuitions, and all other bills incurred in life. This will also allow us a gas allowance to get us to and from the campus and food allowance when spending time with our students. Your donations will allow us to go to conferences and buy materials for strengthening our students. Please consider giving generously to us as we invest in the college students of St. Louis.

If you are willing, please mail your tax-deductible donations to “The Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 12928 Ladue Road, St. Louis, MO 63141.” In the memo line of your check please note: “Wright, 562, 50900, 284.” If you have any questions regarding donation options, please call the church at 314-434-0753.

We are so grateful to share all this with you. Thank you in advance for your consideration and may the Lord bless and keep you.

Grace and Peace,

Lee & Sarah Wright
